CoinGate Review

Accepting Bitcoin does not necessarily mean keeping your revenue in Bitcoin. CoinGate connects customer payments with order tracking and merchant settlement, including options to receive other currencies.

Our BitcoinLink view: consider CoinGate if customers already want to pay in crypto and your business needs a managed payment flow. Invoices and e-commerce plugins give you several starting points.

About affiliate links

BitcoinLink may earn a commission when you use certain links on this site. This helps fund our editorial work. It does not make a service suitable for everyone: our reviews cover its benefits, limitations and conditions to understand before signing up.

What merchants can use

CoinGate offers checkout, billing, plugins and an API. WooCommerce, PrestaShop and WHMCS are among its listed integrations. Check your platform version and required features before installing.

The currency a customer pays and the currency you receive can differ. Confirm the available settlement options for your account. Blockchain confirmation and bank settlement have separate timelines; a confirmed customer payment is not an immediate bank deposit.

Use the current asset list

Bitcoin and USDC are available in the current offering. Check the exact blockchain at checkout. CoinGate says it has discontinued USDT, despite older plugin pages retaining long currency lists.

We would choose a small, useful set of payment options rather than market the number of tokens. Clear network instructions are particularly important for customers paying from exchange accounts.

Standard fees and settlement

Public terms checked on 5 October 2026: standard processing costs 1%, without a monthly fee. SEPA withdrawals are listed as free with a €50 minimum. Manual platform conversions cost 1%; automatic checkout conversions are excluded from that particular fee line. Standard automatic settlements are weekly.

Outgoing payments, refunds and SWIFT withdrawals have separate charges. Check the full flow rather than treating 1% as the cost of every operation. Customer network fees can also matter for smaller baskets.

Merchant approval comes first

Expect business and identity verification. Prepare company details, representative information and a website that explains products, prices, delivery, contact details and refund terms.

Business eligibility and customer-location restrictions are distinct. Check the current supported-country rules before development. Reading this review in a particular language does not confirm access in the corresponding country. CoinGate is not an anonymous checkout service.

Preparing an integration

Create a CoinGate business account through BitcoinLink and describe your use case. Choose the settlement currency, then use the sandbox to test successful orders, incomplete payments, expiry and status updates back to your store.

Confirm the final payment status and expected amount before automatic fulfilment. A customer screenshot is insufficient. Plan refunds and accounting exports, and retain payment methods for shoppers who do not use crypto.

Our review is based on public materials, not a live merchant account or processed sale. CoinGate is worth considering where there is actual customer demand; the integration should be judged on the full payment journey.

Check eligibility and start your CoinGate business account through BitcoinLink to prepare and test your payment flow.
